JESSICA RICOS "BOXING COUTURE"
Part of the ZaeLane goal is to endeavor in every area of the world to show the love for collaboration in craft. This milestone embraces this statement perfectly. For Jessica Ricos professional boxing debut, ZaeLane creates a custom couture robe and bespoke skirt.
These final sketches are the result of weeks working together with Jessica to bring her visions to life. Taking into account every detail that would make these pieces feel special to Jessicas story, heritage, and faith.
Mockups of the garments are made out of muslin first for precise measurement taking during the multiple fitting with Jessica. Any adjustments needed for the garments to fit perfectly for Jessica would be made to the muslin mockups and later applied to the pattern pieces.
After every measurement was perfect to Jessicas body, the pattern pieces could be cut directly to the fabric chosen for this project. The Couture Robe consists of a pure silk twill for the main body components and duchess silk satin for the trims in black. The Bespoke Skirt consists of pure silk twill for the panels and cowhide leather for the waistband in white.
The robe is embellished with over 8,000 hand placed Swarovski crystals and rhinestones in a paisley print to represent Jessicas motorcycle riding and Chicana lifestyle. With faith encapsulating not only in Jesscia, but also in the brand, "Glory To God" is sewn onto the middle back of the robe to represent divine faith. The skirt is trimmed with beaded fringe that consists of over 30,000 clear and black beads to emphasize movement. The wavy cowhide leather waistband is titled with Jessicas last name, "RICO", sewn onto the middle front. Sponsors of Jessica, including ZL, are printed onto each panel and embellished with over 1,000 black Swarovski crystals.
The opportunity to be a part of such an accomplishing milestone for Jessica is something that will is held dearly at ZaeLane. These garments are the stepping stones to push the limits of what it means to create art in every area of life. ZaeLane is honored to have dressed Jessicas Rico as its first custom boxing collaboration for her Debut Professional Boxing Match.

WITH FOUR OF THEM IN TOTAL, THIS QUANTITY REPRESENTS THE FOUR DIRECT FAMILY MEMBERS OF THE BRAND, MICHAEL LANE, NIKIA LANE, ISAIAH LANE, AND JAXON LANE. FURTHERMORE, THE SYMBOLISM FOR EACH OF THE STRUCTURES FACING IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS CLOSELY TOGETHER IMPLIES THAT THOUGH EACH FAMILY MEMBER HAS THEIR OWN PATH TO FOLLOW, THEY HAVE PROMISED TO ALWAYS BE BY EACH OTHER'S SIDE AND STAY TOGETHER TO FORM ONE UNIT.
THE NAME "ZAELANE", DERIVES FROM THE FOUNDERS FULL NAME "ISAIAH LANE". ISAIAH ALWAYS SEEMED TO NOTICE THAT OFTEN HIS PEERS WOULD CALL HIM "ZAE" FOR SHORT AS A NICKNAME. EVENTUALLY, WHEN IT WAS TIME TO DECIDE A NAME FOR THE BRAND, ISAIAH FOUND HOW HIS NICKNAME AND LAST NAME TOGETHER, "ZAELANE", FLOWED ELEGANTLY, YET WITH JUST ENOUGH BOLDNESS TO BE ABLE TO FEEL THE GRIT AND EDGE IN THE LOOK OF THE NAME.
ZAELANE TAKES PRIDE IN CREATING ART WITH INTENT, LOVE, AND DEDICATION TO THE CRAFT. WITH MOST OF THE GARMENTS MADE IN HOUSE, THIS CREATES A SENSE OF EXTRA CARE AND PASSION TO EACH INDIVIDUAL PIECE THAT IS PRODUCED.
